LIEUTENANT COMMANDER NICHOLAS TUUK, USN
Executive Officer USS NEW JERSEY
Born in Michigan, Lieutenant Commander Tuuk graduated from and received a commission from the United States Naval Academy in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
His first sea assignment was as a Junior Officer aboard USS NORFOLK (SSN 714) in Norfolk, Virginia. During this tour he primarily served as the ship’s Communications Officer conducting two CENTCOM deployments and executing a maintenance dry-docking period.
Following his first sea tour he served ashore as an instructor at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command leading the Aspects of Reactor Plant Operation division as division director. During his time ashore he earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School.
On his second sea tour, he was assigned as Engineer Officer aboard USS SEAWOLF (SSN 21) in Bremerton, Washington. During this time he oversaw the ship’s midlife overhaul during an Extended Dry-docking Selected Restricted Availability.
Following his tenure aboard SEAWOLF, Lieutenant Commander Tuuk served as Deputy Executive Assistant to Commander, THIRD Fleet in San Diego, California.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various campaign and service awards.
Lieutenant Commander Tuuk and his wife, Tracy, have two children, William and Nora.
