Daniel Dermer
Daniel Dermer is a native of East Millstone, NJ. He is a graduate of Rider University in Lawrenceville NJ with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration And a minor in Political Science. As a law school candidate, he earned his Paralegal Certification from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Morristown NJ.
Dan owned and operated a small construction company from 1985 until 2011. In 2011 Dan began working for the Department of Homeland Security as a Transportation Security Officer for the TSA. In early 2020 Dan retired from DHS/TSA for medical reasons. He once again operates his own company DADE Construction Services.
Dan has been actively involved in his community since the age of 17 when he became the youngest member of the Millstone Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. He was the youngest person ever elected Chief of the Department in 1987 prior to his 25th birthday. Dan would go on to serve as President for four years and then as the President of the Franklin Township Fire Chiefs Association for two more years. His record of service would serve him well as he became a member of the Central Jersey Council-Navy League of the United States. As a member of a local council of an international organization, Dan would rise to become Council President by 2004. During Dan’s tenure, the Council’s motto became non- military families helping military families. While President the Council expanded its assistance from one USCG cutter to four and the largest US Navy base on the Atlantic seaboard, Naval Weapons Station Earle.
His signature accomplishment which continues until today is the Angel Program. This program seeks to put a Christmas toy in the hands of a child from every Navy and Coast Guard person in central NJ and the NYC area.
Since 2004 the program has distributed thousands of gifts to the Council’s adopted unit’s children. Since 2007 Dan has served as the Central Jersey Council’s Chief of Staff for the last five Council Presidents.
Dan is married to Denise Barofski since 1989 and resides in East Brunswick NJ.
