Within this scope, VPCA Roles and Responsibilities of Velez include: CJNLUS Fundraising (Types/Procedures); CJNLUS Community Outreach (Events/Messaging/Community Affiliates); Organizational Objectives (Updated CJNLUS Trifolds & CJNLUS Marketing Materials/Fully integrated Social Media Platform (CJNLUS Website, Facebook, Twitter); CJNLUS Raffle License Acquisition & Implementation.

Cdr. Joseph A. Velez, AP, is the Ranking Officer of this United States Power Squadron. Velez has direct responsibility for its growth and vitality, as well, establishes the direction and vision for The Squadron during term of office. He is an Ex officio member of all committees except Auditing, Nominating & Rules. Appoints delegates to Conferences & GBs. Appoints chairpersons to appointive committees. Presides at all Squadron Meetings, General Membership & Executive Committee.

Velez is a Voting Member at National Meetings (GB & AM) & District Meetings (Councils & Conferences). Velez has the responsibility for attaining proper turnover at the end of term to successor.

Board Member & Trustee; NJ Submarine Commissioning Organization

Responsibilities include organization and participation in all fundraising activities for the organization. Velez is to ensure the communication regarding fundraising needs, events and support levels are distributed between the commissioning organization and other committees. Together with other members of his committee, Velez is responsible to update all donors with progress reports as to USS New Jersey’s progress towards its commissioning.
